SWC CHAMPS!!! 
The 2012 O’Fallon Panthers are the Southwestern Conference Champions for the third consecutive year and for the fifth time in seven years. O’Fallon defeated the Collinsville Kahoks by a score of 7-3 on Tuesday afternoon to secure the championship. Senior pitcher Kyle Wilson led the way on Tuesday, holding the Kahoks to one earned run through five and one third innings. He allowed only four hits while striking out five and walking no one. Wilson was aided in his efforts on the mound with some eye-popping defensive plays by senior shortstop Logan Reno. At one point, Reno stole a hit from one unfortunate Kahok hitter by ranging deep to his left to pick a grounder up the middle, spin and get his man at first. We have seen him do it before, but it never ceases to amaze. Sophomore Tyler Herbert picked up the save after holding Collinsville scoreless in the last one and two thirds innings. O’Fallon trailed 1-0 after the first inning but tied the game in the 2nd after Jeff Hahs doubled to right center, Sam Hopkins singled to left and Brenndon Tindall picked up the RBI on a fielder’s choice. They took the lead in the 3rd with a two-out single by Colin Holton, who immediately stole 2nd. Cory Beyersdorfer drove in Holton on a line drive single to the left center gap. The Panthers widened the lead in the 5th when Jeff Hahs knocked a bases loaded single to score Reno and Holton to make the score 4-1. O’Fallon manufactured a run in the 6th with a squeeze bunt by Reno and added two more in the 7th when Hopkins and Tindall clubbed a triple and a double in consecutive at bats. The Panthers are at home against Waterloo on Wednesday afternoon for Senior Night. The seniors of the class of 2012 will be honored along with community honoree Ed Hopkins. The Senior Night presentation begins at 4:20 followed by the ballgame at 4:30 at Blazier Field.
